Making an Effective Power Point Presentation

  1. Use no more than 2-3 fonts in a presentation. Keep font choices for headings and body text consistent throughout the presentation.
  2. Do not include too much content on a single slide. The rule is no more than 6 bulleted or listed items on a page.
  3. Use color consistently.
  4. Keep text short and to the point. Always avoid red within the body text.
  5. Keep backgrounds consistent.
  6. Keep sounds consistent.
  7. Use borders around graphics and pictures to help them stand out against the background.
  8. Limit the amount of text. Instead use animation, graphics, photos, sound, and movies to help deliver your message.
