AWAKE Invasive Species

Kentucky is home to many wilderness areas that support a rich native biodiversity. Unfortunately, Kentucky’s native species and habitats are threatened by several invasive organisms, including exotic weeds, insects, mussels, fish, and even mammals. Scientists are working to study and control these pests, and they are asking Kentucky students to help by monitoring invasive species populations in their regions.
